What does the "data reconciled with worldwide studbooks" pie chart tell me?
The green area of your institution's pie chart represents the percentage of your institution's data that matches studbook data in the ISIS global database. (i.e. "83% reconciled" means that 83% of your institution's records match studbook data and 17% of your institution's records have a conflict with studbook data as recorded in the ISIS global database.)
ISIS data quality campaign: studbook/institution records reconciliation
Studbook keepers and institutional record keepers use two separate ISIS systems – Single Population Analysis and Record Keeping System (SPARKS) and Animal Records Keeping System (ARKS). ISIS created the studbook/institution records reconciliation tool to help improve the accuracy and consistency of animal data in your records on the ISIS systems.
Updated data will allow easier analysis of your data to help you improve population management.
The studbook/institution records reconciliation tool includes four reports:
· Matches with data differences report – shows animals with significant data differences between studbook and institution records for the same specimen.
· One-to-many records report – shows specimens where there are multiple potential matches based on similar provided information.
· Possible matches report – shows specimens where recorded studbook numbers/authority or shared institutional IDs do not yet exist.
· All matched records report – shows animals whose studbook and institutional records match, based on studbook number or institutional local ID.
The data in these reports is presented side-by-side to allow for easy comparison. E-mail links are provided on the ISIS Web site so that users can discuss discrepancies in the data.

When you log on to the ISIS Web site, a chart of your institution’s progress is shown. (Your data scores are shown only to your institution.)
The reconciliation rate between studbook and institutional data currently averages 76 percent. This means that 24 percent of studbook and institutional animal records differ in some significant way. Here is how you can help resolve these difference
Studbook keepers
See your score when you log onto the ISIS Web site – and the data differences between your studbook and the institution’s records on the ISIS central database. Pay special attention to your One-to-Many Records and Possible Matches Reports. If a match can be verified on either report, enter the institutional specimen ID into your SPARKS studbook.
Institutional data keepers
See your score when you log onto the ISIS Web site. Your report will note discrepancies between your institutional data and the data entered by studbook keepers. Pay special attention to your One-to-Many Records and Possible Matches Reports. If a match can be verified on either report, enter the studbook number and authority into your institutional records.
You may submit your studbook data to laurie@isis.org for comparison at any time. ISIS updates the reconciliation data weekly.
Note: At times, studbook records cannot be matched to institutional records for comparison, especially if the studbook or institutional accession number is missing in either dataset.
