ISIS impact
lemur named after ISIS founder
On 13 January 2005, researchers at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska USA announced the discovery of two new species of lemurs, one of the most primitive and endangered primates in the world.
Dr. Edward Louis, head of the genetics department at the zoo's Grewcock Center for Conservation and Research, named one of the species Lepilemur seali after ISIS founder Dr. Ulie Seal.
The world's wild population of lemurs, which has about 70 species, is found solely on the island of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean.
