ZIMS logo contest winner
From more than 60 entries, a logo idea submitted by Rob Ainbinder of the North Carolina Zoo was chosen to represent the new Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS) product. More than 200 votes were cast in the contest.

Look for the final design for the new logo to come soon.

Congratulations, Rob!

And, thank you to all our other designers! There were some fantastic ideas submitted! We appreciate your hard work and enthusiasm!

ZIMS Project update
The ISIS Board recently invited financial contributors to Building ZIMS: the Campaign for ISIS to be considered for selection as one of a relatively small number of institutions that will use ZIMS before it is completed in our “early adopter” campaign. These pre-release users will focus on helping strengthen the integration aspects of ZIMS design and becoming the final test sites as we release ZIMS builds for testing.

These “early adopters” will help us assure that ZIMS will meet institutional needs and may be mentor to other institutions as they move to using ZIMS.

The first ZIMS early adopters are:

Auckland Zoological Park
Audubon Nature Institute
Bristol, Clifton and West of England Zoological Society
Calgary Zoological Society
Columbus Zoo and Aquarium
Copenhagen Zoo
DSI Givskud Zoo
Monterey Bay Aquarium
Riverbanks Zoo & Botanical Garden
Royal Zoological Society of South Australia (Adelaide Zoo)
Smithsonian National Zoological Park
Seattle Aquarium
Sedgwick County Zoo
South Carolina Aquarium
The Living Desert
Wildlife Conservation Society
Woodland Park Zoological Society
Zoologischer Garten Leipzig
Zoological Society of San Diego

Thank you to all those who applied to become early adopters. We may add more institutions to this list as needed.

ISIS technical updates
The ISIS technical support team has created a helpful index for support questions on the ISIS Web site. If you have a question about using your ISIS software, go to http://www.isis.org/CmsHome/content/MainHelp.aspx?Mainhelp=Welcome and choose the topic of your question.

Our support staff is also available to help by e-mail at support@isis.org or by calling +1.651.209.9250.

Wildlife Information Network (WIN) is seeking support for a proposal to start detailed research on "Cranes: Health and Management." WIN is seeking £35,000 to finance the six-month project. The module will cover health and management issues, breeding programmes including artificial insemination techniques, natural history and conservation status.

The attached press release from WIN contains more information or contact Iain Boardman (+44 (0) 1827 88 11 22; iboardman@wildlifeinformation.org) for a project proposal and further information.

Is your organization undertaking an exciting conservation strategy? If so, send a quick update on your project to news@isis.org. We will publish conservation news from as many organizations as we can.
