ZIMS Project funding

ISIS is grateful to the many visionary institutions and individuals who have committed funds for the development of ZIMS. The chart above highlights the investment made by members of the ISIS global community. Zoos and aquariums – 143 in all – have generously supported ZIMS. Add in the $8 million estimate of the time invested by 600 volunteers from around the world to conceive, design, test, review and teach ZIMS, and it is clear that this community is deeply dedicated to the success of this huge and complex project.
When ZIMS is completed, the expenses will be distributed like this:
- $3.3 million in software construction outsourcing costs;
- $4.7 million in ISIS project staffing, technology, and support for user-driven design;
- $3.5 million (projected) in training, technology, and user help-desk support for rollout;
- Estimated $4 million in “in-kind” support from CGI, the software vendor.
- Estimated total $8 million in volunteered professional staff time and travel.
It is not too late to become a ZIMS investor, and guarantee quicker access to ZIMS as it deploys around the world in 2008.
